So, Where’s The Beef, George?

I swear, if there is one more “story” coming from any part of the government that turns out to be so much hogwash on a shingle, I’m going to explode! How many lies can these guys tell us before we shove a gag in their mouths and shut them up? Each one gets stupider than the other, and it’s getting really hard to take.

The lies that got us into Iraq were bad enough. The lies about finding WMD’s that didn’t exist stunk. The lies about all the terror threats that never came to be were worse, because they were only put out there to scare the bejeebers out of us and keep us standing behind our Savior, the President. Now we’ve heard about those non-existant WMD’s showing up, only to find out it’s the same empty, rusted, useless shell casings that were buried before the first gulf war, and the worst they could do to a person was maybe - MAYBE - burn the skin of someone who touched the traces of chemicals left in them. But wait, the burn would be no worse than a freaking rug burn!!!

Now, however, we’ve been treated to a whole diatribe about a functioning terrorist ring in Florida, a group of muslims working with and supported by Al Quaeda, who were in possession of explosives and bombs they were planning on using on buildings in Chicago and Miami. Oh, yeah, and these guys had spent a lot of time casing the Chicago building so they’d know when and where the best places to set the bombs off would be. Good Lord God, we had home-grown terrorists on our doorstep, in the midst of causing more grief and mayhem at their soonest chance.

Well, now the truth comes out. The terrorists? Eight black Muslims. The connection with Al Quaeda? Only in the minds of the FBI agents, one of whom posed as Al Quaeda. They had no contact at all, EVER, with the real Al Quaeda. They had no explosives, no bombs, and no money to buy what they needed to make bombs with. They had NEVER been to Chicago, never cased the building, and the only picture they had was one cut from a magazine by one of them quite a while back. And he only had that because he liked the way it looks! And we were all messing our pants with fear, ever so thankful that they had been caught before they did their dastardly deed.

What the hell is wrong with us? I’ll answer my own question here, if you don’t mind: what is wrong with us is that we’ve been scared silly since 9/11 by this administration who saw the political hay they could make by making us afraid of another attack, and keeping us that way. We are so afraid we will be attacked again that all they have to do is hint of a possible threat somewhere, from someone, and we’re all cowering in fear, hoping Big Daddy Gov’ment can save us in time. We need to get real, here, folks.

This has to be the last straw. This has to be the one that broke the camel’s back, because if we keep falling for these boondoggles, we will never be able to get back to normal, live our lives without looking around every corner for the next Arab attack. We have to realize that we have been jerked around by the nose for five years by the Republicans, and it’s time we show them we won’t put up with it anymore.

So far it’s looking like Democrats might be able to take back both houses of Congress this year. I say “so far”, because I am convinced these guys will continue to try to keep us afraid of our own shadows so we’ll feel we have to keep them in charge or we’ll be sorry. I have no doubt this won’t be the last fear tactic they’ll try, tho. Already we have the new Bin Laden tape, which we are being told is a long, threat-filled diatribe that should make us wary of the future. Please, please don’t fall for it again.

Now, I’m by no means saying there will never be another attack against us, either at home or abroad, but what I am saying is, we can’t let these fools lead us around like sheep, poking us in the butts with a stick and yelling “BOO!” in an attempt to keep us too scared to move away from them. We have to understand what they are doing, and why, and we absolutely must get them out in November. We have to put the Congress - both houses - back in Democrat hands, or we’ll never feel safe again. With any luck, once the Dems take over, they can get both Bush and Cheney impeached, leaving the White House in the hands of the Speaker of the House, which will be a Democrat.

They had their chance, and they blew it badly, no matter how much they try to convince us things are better than ever. They have taken us from a budget surplus to a budget deficit, the highest in the history of this country. They have taken us from a nation that was looked up to by most people, most other countries, to one that is hated and ridiculed in countries that never would have acted that way before. They have gotten us the highest gasoline prices in history, the highest price of housing, and ever-climbing prices for the very food we need to have to exist, yet they say things are “looking up”? For whom?

I know I’m going to be working hard to get Democrats elected in November, and I only hope everyone reading this will do the same. If not, don’t say you haven’t been warned when the very things I’ve talked about here come to pass. You have the chance to change things, make them better, get us back to the better times of the past, but only you can make the decision to do that. I only hope you will.

HEY, PAT, ANOTHER QUESTION FOR YOU…

Just what is God trying to tell the good folks of Washington, DC, and your home state of Virginia? Why aren’t you spouting off, telling us what his message is by sending all the rain that’s flooding the whole East Coast, from SC up to Connecticut? If Katrina was a judgement on New Orleans because of all their “sinful ways”, and an upcoming tsunami will be a judgement on the West Coast because of whatever you think we’ve done out here, then just exactly what is God’s judgement on you guys for?

Could it possibly be his way of telling you that your lying in his name is really pissing him off, and that the things going on in DC these days are angering him as much as it is those of us not in the ruling party? Maybe that the “God-fearing South” isn’t really following His directions when they support that ruling party so heartily, you think? See, if it were me I’d just say it’s a weather pattern that has a whole lot of rain in it, it kind of stalled out over those areas, and it’s a simple act of nature, but you always seem to get a special delivery message from God in these things that let you know why he’s so displeased with any area that gets hit by such things, so what is He saying this time? Why not come out and tell us?

I have my suspicions as to what His message is, and they go something like this: God told you that because you have dragged His name through the mud so often, then blamed him for it, that anger has welled up inside Him and He’s unleashing it on you. Then he probably said that the runt in the White House, who keeps pretending that he’s a faithful servant of God, is doing everything he shouldn’t be doing all the while. And, of course, He said that He has had enough of those who continue to claim they are the most devout of His followers while they do all they can to keep the runt and his buddies in power.

Is that about it, Pat? Is that what He told you? Are you just to embarassed to let the rest of us know this time? For the life of me, I can’t figure out why else you’re being so quiet about this obvious judgement from God when you’ve been so vocal about the others. So come on, Pat. ‘Fess up. Just what has God told you are His reasons for this one? We’d all love to know.

Last Days?

I am writing to you for what could possibly be the last time. No, I don’t have a deadly disease, I’m not going to jail or being hijacked to a cave somewhere, out of reach of my computer. It’s nothing like that, but it is a fairly real possibility, and I can’t help wondering why nothing has been done about it.

We went into Iraq, a little country led by what was, at that time, a paper tiger, and there still is no really good, reasonable reason given for doing that. We were under no real threat by them, no imminent danger existed to justify it. As a matter of fact, we got there based on the lies of our leaders, nothing more, and we’re still there, losing more and more American’s every day. Yet, all the while, there are other nations out there who really do pose a very real threat to us, and we do nothing. Why?

I ask this as one who has been suddenly thrust backwards into the years of my youth, head still spinning with the shock of it all. I am sitting here with a target on my head, with the certain knowledge that my children and grandchildren are also marked with that same big, red X, and I have to say I don’t like it. I haven’t felt like this for years, and after having doop-de-dooped along for the last 16 or 17 years believing all is well for the time being, it’s not a fun time to have to go back to.

I grew up in the fifties and sixties, when our school days included fire drills, earthquake drills, and bomb drills. Yes, I live in California, always have, and these were facts of life for me and my peers all the years we were in school. Fire drills had us marching in an orderly manner out of our room, out of the building, and across the yard to a “safe” place away from anywhere a fire might have a chance to burn. You’ve all been through those, I’m sure. But the earthquake and bomb drills were the same in every way, and made us feel we’d be safe in either situation, should they ever occur. We were stupid kids, of course, but the adults in charge should have had more sense.

Well, with the fall of Communism, the distruction of so many nuclear weapons, and the seeming backdown from the constant brink of a nuclear holocaust in the late 80’s and early 90’s, I thought all that was behind us. Boy, was I wrong. But there is one difference. All those years I thought it was the evil Commies that were at fault for all of that fear, that if we just got rid of them, all would be well. Wrong again. Little did I know it would be our own President and his cronies that would bring us right back to that brink with their stupid foriegn policy and greed.

Yes, I sit here today with that big red X right smack in the middle of my back, and George W. Bush is to thank for it. Instead of trying to get the countries that really pose a threat to us under control, he chose to invade and conquer one of those that didn’t. He chose to ignore the ones who can do us harm, letting them go about their business with nothing more than a few “Now, don’t you do that’s” tossed out here and there. He refused to talk with them, try to get some kind of agreement that they wouldn’t try to come up with nuclear weapons, basically saying it’s not his problem. No, it isn’t, I guess. He’s over on the East Coast, far from the threat these idiots pose. Me and my family, on the other hand, are right here in the line of fire, and there’s not a thing we can do to protect ourselves.

North Korea now has a rocket that supposedly can reach my home town, and they are getting ready to “test” it. Now, by test, do they mean shoot it in the air and see how it flies, or shoot at the big red X on my back and see how quickly I am vaporized? It does make a difference, you know?

Yes, they say if a rocket is shot off and appears to be headed toward us, they will shoot it down with their defense rockets. The problem is, the tests they’ve done with those rockets leave a lot to be desired. Basically, if they manage to hit the darn thing it would be pretty much by lucky happenstance, not by any controlled action by us. I don’t know about you, but that sure doesn’t make me feel any more secure.

I really hate this, you know? I guess I should be used to it, since I grew up living with the threat of a nuclear attack hanging over my head every single day. Of course, I did have the protection of knowing that if I crawl under a desk, crouch down on my knees, put my head on the floor and cover it with my arms, the bomb probably wouldn’t hurt me then. Now I know that was a load of crap, that nothing in the world can protect me and mine if a nuke lands on us, and that’s really not a happy thought. I have no protection now, even if it’s only in my mind, and that makes the prospect even worse.

So, here I sit, not knowing whether I will be here tomorrow, or even 10 minutes from now, because some pig-headed little dictator with a Napoleonic complex may take the advantage he’s been given by the total non-interest of George W. Bush and Co. to blow us off the map. Well, at least the people of Iraq can sleep better tonight, secure in the knowledge that America has saved them from life under Saddam’s thumb. Never mind the whole country is now overrun by terrorists who want to impose their will on them and everyone else if they get the chance, Iraq is now safer than ever. Bush said so, so it has to be true, right? And what’s the loss of one blue state on the Left Coast compared to that?

Rick Santorum Is An Idiot!!!

What a maroon! The guy gets 18 points behind in his re-election campaign, and his first thought is to try to sell us on the fact that yes, indeed, WMD’s have been found in Iraq. Does he really think we are that stupid? Or is it just the voters in his state? I tell you what, if my Senator or Representative thought so little of me and my intelligence that he/she would pull a stunt like this in order to get my vote, I’d really be ticked.

Everyone knows that old shells, from before the first Gulf War, have been found from time to time, and some of them have traces of the chemicals that they once had in them, but these ARE NOT WMD’s under anyone’s definition of the term. They can’t do a thing to you, except burn your skin if you touch the stuff, and that burn is nothing worse than a rug burn would be. Now, true, a rug burn does hurt like heck, but it’s not going to kill you, and that’s what WMD’s do. “Destruction” means to kill you. Hurting you does not equate to destroying you, only taking your life does. God, I’m just stupefied by the ignorance of this jerk!

It seems Santorum has been joined now by at least one other Republican, Mr. Hoekstra (sp). But having another idiot join in the Stupid Parade doesn’t make it the Rose Bowl Parade. It’s just a stupid, stupid thing to do, and anyone who doesn’t recognize that has no right to even try to vote because they are simply to ignorant to do so intelligently. Oh, wait. That’s how we got Bush for a second term, tho, isn’t it? Well, one can only hope the people who fell for his lunacy learned a lesson and will be more careful what they put their faith in this time. We’ll have to wait and see, but with any luck it will turn out that we will actually get what is best for this nation this time. It’s about time, don’t you think?

So, It’s Come To This…..

null

Two American soldiers captured, tortured, beheaded, mutilated beyond recognition - to the point they will have to be identified by DNA - and left among the rubble after being heavily booby-trapped, and the Republicans are using it to attack the Democrats. I don’t know which side is worse, the openly monstrous insurgents who feel they have good reason to hate all Americans, or the party of the lying president who got us into this war in the first place, who feel they have the right to use the deaths of these young patriots to further their own political ambitions.

Wait, there’s another class that needs to be added in here: the brainless, gullible sheep who will swallow the poison pill they are fed by this party and regurgitate it ad infinitum because they haven’t got the sense to stop and realize what has really happened here. I have no doubt there will be scores of these. Oh, not as many as there once would have been, hopefully, but enough to make the rest of us wonder what the heck is happening to this country.

After spending several years trying to get these people to see reason, I am happy to see that a good many of them finally have, and are on to the fact that they were lied to, big time. Now, however, it seems we will have another battle to fight for the hearts and souls of the American people, and I only hope it won’t take as long and be as hard to do.

The death and mutilation of these two young men is not something that should be used as political fodder, yet it’s already beginning. Mr. Mehlman, chairman of the Republican party, used it today to make digs at Mr. Murtha, John Kerry, John Dean, and other Democrats that have been trying to come up with a plan to get our troops back to our own soil before we lose too many more of them. He was on Hardball, and waved their dead bodies over his head in response to a question about his thoughts on the plans put forth by the Democrats, most particularly Mr. Kerry. It was sickening to hear.

Leave these men alone. They’ve gone through enough, as have their grieving families. They don’t deserve to be used as a political ploy to try to gain support for a lying, scheming, unworthy piece of scum like George W. Bush, and these guys should be ashamed of themselves for doing just that.

Do I sound bitter? You bet. I’m tired of being lied to, I’m tired of listening to brainless bleaters repeating verbatim the crapola spead by that same scum and his cronies, and I’m tired of thinking they can’t go any lower, then watching in horror as they do so. Sick and tired, that’s me, and ready to work my backside off to get the Democrats back in control of the Congress this year, then the White House two years from now. I hope you all will join me.

TOTALLY DISCONNECTED!!

I’m just not sure if it’s George or me at this point. I mean, he goes on a surprise visit to Iraq, then comes back and says things are looking up over there, while I’m sitting here at home hearing about new American deaths, new Iraqi deaths, more bombing, and now two missing American soldiers. So, I have to ask: is this what “looking up” means?

In my opinion, the only looking up is in connection with our guys looking up to see what’s coming at them next. And if things are so much better over there, if we are truly in control, why did Georgie Boy have to sneak into town like a theif, then sneak right back out? If things were so great, wouldn’t he do like he does when he visits England, or Canada, or Japan - announce his visit weeks ahead to maximize the curious and “interested” sightseers who turn out to greet him? “All Hail The Conquering Hero” or something.

I really have a problem figuring out what this fool thinks. He certainly doesn’t see what the rest of us do, or he doesn’t see it in the same way or something. Maybe he has a problem with word meanings or something. We know he can’t seem to put two words together on his own and make any kind of sense, so maybe it is a matter of using words correctly. Maybe when he says “Things are looking better over there”, what he’s really trying to say is “Well, we didn’t run into any roadside bombs.” You think?

All I know is, if this is his idea of what good times are supposed to be, and if his “Mission Accomplished” banner on that battleship was supposed to mean we’d won the war, something is wrong somewhere. There is a definite disconnect with reality going on, either on his part or mine. I’ve got to tell you, I’m fairly certain it’s not me. Now, isn’t that a happy thought? We are being led by a man who has no concept of reality. Yep, I feel much safer.

Oh, by the way, have you heard the latest? North Korea is about to test a rocket that can reach all the way to our shores, and can be fitted with a nuclear warhead! Hmmm. I wonder if we’ll be hearing W praising NK’s technical and scientific skills in the near future, along with their thoughtfulness at wanting to share their “toys” with us? At this point it wouldn’t surprise me. And to think, we could have been keeping these guys from getting this far instead of stomping all over an old goat who couldn’t find his rearend with both hands, let alone come up with a rocket that could really deliver the goods. Yep, makes sense to George, I guess.
